Blog

April 1, 2009.  Back to class with Mark and Karen and all about WordPress.  Getting lots of new ideas and things to do to improve this site and do the things I want to do.

March 30, 2009.  Well it is late and I just finished getting my data together to go to the tax lady, i.e. the one who plugs it in.  I think I am in for some payment, none of this refund money. Hey, where is my stimulus I ask you.  My expenses are high so that is why I have not been paying as I go but at least I have the money.  Do not get me started in on my IRA but I did take some out this year.  It has lost almost half since its apex.  I was talking with my account manager the other day and he pointed out I had taking withdrawals of almost 20K in the past year.  What says I!  Never.  “Oh”, says he, “that was your loss last year.”  OUCH!!!  And not so much as a sorry. Merrill Lynch.   Well it it late and I have been at the Museum working on cleaning up the last show and Meals as well and tomorrow I have all that and my intermediate computer class.  The march goes on, well for a few more days.  Opening on the 8th.  Have not seen the work yet so will comment on it when I do.  The Stoneham gallery work, which we put up last week, is very good.  More on that later.

March 29, 2009  Well I spent most of the cleaning, waiting for the Comcast field people to fix my connection and have put off the taxes thing once again.  I know I will have to pay hence the slowness.  Soon, real soon.  Sure.

Next week starts a new round of installations for the museum.  Details later.

March 29, 2009.  A wet and windy day.  Time to do my taxes.  Ouch!.

March 28, 2009.  A friend and I went down to Harrison Ave in Boston to check out some galleries.  It is a newer area of gallery space and many who had been on Newbury St have moved over to Harrison Ave.  Usually I just look at photography when I am in “gallery space” but I visited Boston Sculptors Gallery and found two wonderful exhibits.  Jessica Straus’ work is both whimsical and profound, entitled “Fittings and Findings”.  Andy Zimmermann’s show, entitled “EitherNor” is both contained and revealing.  Obscured objects within a structure and layered images over a photograph, which gives a very distinct 3D effect.  Both are worth seeing.  Both are up until April 19, 2009.  Web site: www.bostonsculptors.com

March 28, 2009.  Off to Stanhope Framers to get my friend Jane’s collage framed.  She will be up from PTown in early April to visit with Miriam’s family and have brunch with friends at Johnny D’s.  That should be fun!

Last night was the Griffin Museum’s Taste of Winchester fund raiser. It was well attended and had many different food vendors. Places such as Rudy’s. Cocoa Express, Hunt chocolate, China Sky and a new and wonderful bread maker in Winchester whose name I will have to look up.

The name is Mamadou’s Artisan Bakery on Swanton Street and their breads are wonderful.
